Welcome to the Cameo Web Site. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Cameo is closed as of 25th August 2007

Cameo will be closing it's doors for the final time on Saturday 25th August 2007.
Cameo opened on Market Street, Chorley, Lancashire in September 2004 and rapidly gained an excellent reputation as an outstanding retailer of quality ladies fashion wear at affordable prices.

We would like to personally thank all our customers for their loyalty and in many cases their friendship over the last 3 years.
We have had an enjoyable experience running the business but have taken the decision to close after a lot of careful consideration and based on a number of factors; E.g. The current market economy, out of town retail experiences, the lack of direction for shoppers and the apparent scattergun approach to Chorley revitalisation etc;

We also no longer believe that the local authorities understand the needs of the Chorley public's shopping needs. A couple of simple examples :-

  • The draconian and seemingly poorly regulated parking measures currently in force.
  • The new phase 2 retail development proposal for Chorley.
    Chorley B.C. state that the public want and need this, our experiences gained from yourselves is completely the opposite, with little understanding of what is entailed other than the information being being published in the local media.
  • The expense being passed on to the business owner that in our experience Chorley are not prepared to back-up or support E.g.
    When opening the business, we were informed by local planning authorities that we could not have external shutters as these spoil the look of the town. Now that's a joke, look at Market street and see how many businesses have internal shuttering - We rest our case.
    If we had been allowed external shuttering, it may have stopped the recent vandalism to one of our windows, costing us just short of £500 to replace.
    The offenders were not caught and no further action is pending as apparently, the CCTV was not looking in our direction at the time of the incident. Dickinsons recently suffered similar Vandalism to their shop frontage resulting in 3 of their windows being broken.
    We hope the CCTV camera's now point along Market Street and their operators are able to keep an eye on one of Chorley's main thoroughfare's, Lord knows what would have happened if an innocent bystander had been attacked, as this would also not have been captured by the CCTV.
  • Next time your walking down Market Street, look at the old McDonalds retail unit. Boarded up with Blacked out plywood and looking like a total eyesore, what are Chorley B.C. trying to do to help businesses utilise existing property? Oh we forgot, you all need phase 2 as Chorley needs new shops.... Hmmm now lets count the empty premises or closing businesses within the town.

Thank you all once again for your custom and trade. We wish all our past clientele the very best.

Hilary and Denise
